Reversal of cardiac damage in patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis following transcatheter aortic valve implantation: An echocardiographic study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Severe aortic stenosis (AS) results in cardiac damages, such as left ventricular hypertrophy, atrial enlargement, pulmonary pressure elevation and advanced stage, right damage. Généreux colleagues proposed a staging classification based on these extra-valvular damages 2017, with increasing stage representing more While regression of is expected following valve replacement, the reversal damage this system has not been described.

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation in Jehovah's Witness patients with symptomatic severe aortic valve stenosis.
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is currently reserved for high or prohibitive surgical-risk patients with aortic valve stenosis. We report on successful TAVI in two Jehovah's witness patients. It offers a simple and effective treatment of severe aortic valve stenosis in high-risk patients who refuse the use of allogeneic blood and blood products.
متن کاملCoronary Artery Disease and Symptomatic Severe Aortic Valve Stenosis: Clinical Outcomes after Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation
INTRODUCTION The impact of coronary artery disease (CAD) on outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has not been clarified. Furthermore, less is known about the indication and strategy of revascularization in these high risk patients. AIMS This study sought to determine the prevalence and prognostic impact of CAD in patients undergoing TAVI, and to assess the safety and ...
متن کاملPrimary Mitral Valve Regurgitation Outcome in Patients With Severe Aortic Stenosis 1 Year After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation: Echocardiographic Evaluation
Background: Mitral valve regurgitation (MR), present in up to 74% of the patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS), can be a negative prognostic factor when moderate or severe. The outcome of MR after percutaneous transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and predictors associated with that outcome have not been well established in the literature. Objective: To assess the outcome of prim...
متن کاملTranscatheter aortic valve implantation in patients with severe aortic stenosis and small aortic annulus.
OBJECTIVES Valve hemodynamics and clinical outcomes among patients with a small aortic annulus who underwent transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) were examined. BACKGROUND The presence of a small aortic annulus may complicate the surgical management of patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS). TAVI is an alternative to aortic valve replacement (AVR) in high-risk patients, but few d...
متن کاملTranscatheter aortic valve implantation for patients with severe bicuspid aortic valve stenosis.
BACKGROUND Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is regarded as a relative contraindication to transcatheter aortic valve implantation attributable to the risk of uneven expansion of the bioprosthesis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of transcatheter aortic valve implantation in patients with BAV. METHODS AND RESULTS Of 470 patients included in our prospective transcat...
